==Biography==
Born and raised in Osilo in Sardinia, Italy, he was a self-taught guitar player. His musical education began when he was 9 thanks to his father, who was a bass player.
During the years, he kept his musical activity playing with various rock-blues groups and in 2003 he attended and won the “Blues for Sardinia” contest, held at Narcao Blues Festival with his first official group, the Blujuice .〔(NARCAO BLUES - Il vero blues sbarca in Sardegna )〕
In 2004 he was the opening act for John Mayall’s concert at Narcao Blues Festival.
In the same year he took up the soloist career as a “One Man Band” playing acoustic blues and different instruments, such as acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, banjo, weissenborn, washboard and harmonica.
His first musical repertoire, together with many acoustic covers of famous blues classics, included reinterpretation in a blues tone of rock classics by Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix. His style came from a respectful interpretation of the country blues tradition, to which he added different elements influenced by other musical genres such as soul, funk or rock.
His record debut happened in 2007 with the album ''"Blues Journey"'' for the Groove Company.
After the album was published, the artist participated to various Italian Blues Music Festivals in which he featured with Guy DavisRoy Rogers()  , Kevin WelchAndy J. ForestBob Stroger, Eugenio Finardi, Watermelon Slim and Eric Bibb () and he was the opening act for Johnny Winter, Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, Charlie Musselwhite, Sonny LandrethThe Derek Trucks BandThe Fabulous Thunderbirds’, Brent MasonThe Holmes BrothersJunior WatsonJohn Nemeth and Otis Grand concerts.
In the same year he became member of Davide Van de Sfroos’s group, with whom he performed in many live shows including the stage of Assago Mediolanum Forum, Teatro Ariston in Sanremo for the “Premio Tenco” and last but not least, the recording studio experience for the album “Yanez”.
After this experience, the artist decided to focus especially on his blues project.
In 2008 he won an award at the "Out of the Blue's Festival" in Samedan, Switzerland.
In 2009 he participated and won an award at the Delta Blues Festival in Rovigo, in partnership with the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, Tennessee, where the artist then represented Italy during the international blues contest in 2010.
Earlier on (November 2009), he also performed with Australian musician Tommy Emmanuel at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, in Sardinia. ()
In 2010 he published a live album "''Live at Amigdala Theatre'' ", recorded at the Amigdala Theatre in Trezzo d'Adda playing along with artists Pablo Leoni on drums and Davide Speranza playing harmonica.〔(Folkclub - Francesco Piu Trio )〕
The album won the Palma as “Best CD 2010” during the second edition of “Premio Nazionale Radio Trampa”, dedicated to independent productions.
The same year, he participated to various national and international Festivals such as Pistoia Blues Festival, (in which he was the opening act for Jimmie Vaughan’ and Robert Cray’s concerts), the Black and Blue (opening act for Larry Carlton’s concert), Magic Blues in Switzerland, Santa Blues de Tenerife as guitarist for the US singer Sandra Hall and Blues Au Chateau in France.
In 2011 he started a theatrical tour, in which he was the opening act for Treves Blues Band. Same year, in November, he won the Premio Maria Carta award.
In 2012 he pubblished his second studio album, "''Ma-Moo Tones''", produced by New Yorker bluesman Eric Bibb.〔http://www.ondarock.it/recensioni/2012_francescopiu_mamootones.htm〕
The album rewarded the “Best 10 records of the Year” award for the magazine Buscadero so the artist began a long tour that included shows in Canada, where he performed at the famous El Mocambo, France (where he played in many Festivals such as Cognac Blues Passions), Spain, United Kingdom, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland and Germany (opening act for Albert Lee)
In 2014 he published “''Live at Bloom''”, album in which the artist improved and experienced sounds more electric, using an hibryd guitar with two bass guitar strings, called Reani Guitarbass.
In the same year the Italian Blues River rewarded him with the “Gianni Mangione Blues Award”.
In January 2015 he starts his first USA tour which led the Sardinian artist to perform in Mississippi ("Club Ebony" in Indianola, "Ground Zero", "Shack Up Inn" and "Red's Juke Joint" in Clarksdale), Tennessee ("Center for Southern Folklore" a Memphis) and California ("House Of Blues" in Los Angeles and "Biscuits and Blues" in San Francisco) and record at Sun Studio in Memphis.
